"Disappointing title in a great series."
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

After the novelty of exploding legs and flying limbs wear off, this game is quite terrible. Pros:

  • Graphics are OK I guess and sound is not-so bad.
  • the gore engine is kinda fun, for a while.

Cons:

  • So many features that were in Soldier of Fortune 2 are gone, such as map generator, making this very cut down arcade-type game.
  • Enemies spawn right on you so no chance of scoping out an area first.
  • MUST PATCH GAME FOR VISTA OR USING X-FI SOUND

else you''ll get a horrible crash to desktop

  • Plot has nothing to do with previous titles in series.

"FPS game not bad"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This game I havn't really played much as my cpu I put it on is really slow. Game of what I have seen isn't too bad.

"Brainless FPS"
1 stars"

Neat things is when you shoot people you can shoot them into small pieces.

Down side..... Absolutely ridicously. Very short and the story line is so gripping :( Filled with moments of rushing into rooms with a machine gun and holding down the trigger. There's unrealistic then theres this game.

"A Severe Disappointment"
1 stars"

As an avid fan of SOFII, I bought Payback as soon as I was able… And promptly returned it.

Payback is a terrible game, in pretty much all ways. The controls are unusable, the gore engine works too hard to try echo the success of SOFII. So instead of the gorefest that was SOFII, we got a lazy half-ass effort – Complete with missing, not exploding heads. The graphics aren't even as good it's forebears, nor the musical score.

The least tolerable thing about this game though is how much it requires from your computer for what it delivers.

Playing Payback is a colossal waste of time and money, and if you acquire this game through any other means than confiscating it from a friend in order to protect them from it, more pity to you. On any console.
