Sony Pulse Headset reviews

Seriously the sound on this headset is amazing, I have the original sony ps3 7.1 headset which was a great headset, however this new Sony Pulse headset is just hands down amazing. The bass is awesome (especially for battlefield 3) and the bass is adjustable. I was hesitant at first but now I have tried it out I am extremely happy. You will not be disappointed, this headset could be sold for $300 and still be worth it.

Muliple sound modes (with voice prompts) for different game types like fighting, racing and shooter as well as movie and music modes. Bass is adjustable (sliding control) and sounds great. Comfortable to wear and even cranked up the sound doesn't intrude into surrounding area. Haven't tested mic yet but if anything like the rest should be good. Very pleased with purchase.

A gorgeous design, and an impressive range of features. The sound quality with the use of a PS3 console is like no other, and is simply amazing when used on a device such as the iPad. For the price point, Sony has delivered a near perfect product – providing a better experience than high-range products such as Astro, or Trident.

Not only is it the most comfortable headset I've ever tried on, it's got the best sound quality, the best functionality and the best aesthetics I've ever seen. Absolutely the best choice for anyone who wants perfection and doesn't mind the size. I gave my mates a go with it and after 30 seconds they all wanted one too.

(Edit) I've been using this beauty for just under a year now and I've noticed some cracks in the thin piece connecting the pulse units to the ear piece. While they're metallic in colour they are in fact plastic and after the aforementioned year of abuse they look like they're about to give up on me.

In conclusion, this unit is not for portable use and needs to be held by something other than the ear piece when donning and removing.

Still a 5 star product purely because of the functional excellence.

Just picked up this headset & it is outstanding!!!! The Bass is wicked & the clarity like no other.. Different modes for different games etc.. Ive been playn COD MW3 & the sharpness of the riflefire,the shaking of the explosions is just unreal.. They are very comfortable as well having worn them for 3–4hrs straight.. Highly highly recommended to all..AAAA+++++++++++ .. Best price too..

Just a WARNING – stay away from the “Pulse Manager” app on the Playstation Store. I downloaded it to try the different gaming presets (they have new unique ones for Bioshock, GTA V) and it is supposed to update the six mode settings that switch between game, music, movies, etc. Instead the update consistently failed at 35% and can no longer switch modes. No problem I thought, I'll just hit the option to go back to the factory default settings. No, update failed. Nothing can be done. As the app seems to be similar to a firmware update, when it fails you have essentially bricked the hardware. The mode and virtual surround buttons no longer work as they should. (Sending it back to Mighty Ape and hopefully getting a replacement)

Aside from that, before I messed around with this so-called “Pulse Manager” app, the headset sounded fantastic. Pretty much what all the other reviews below are saying.

This is amazing if you were thinking of buying a gaming headset for the PS3 stop now and add to cart.

The sound is amazing and the wireless range is good. They are perfect for me as I can play games at the volume I like without waking the entire house (I have a young family).

Easy to adjust the sound, headphone mode (game, racing, shooter etc.)

I've been using these for about a year or so now on my ps4 and I have to say that this is the best headset I've ever had hands down and I've been through alot.

I use these for work to listen to music to shut the office noise out and they are perfect. Amazing impact mode, great sound, comfortable and being wireless makes them ideal. For gaming the app for both PS3 and PS4 makes transferring the correct sound profile to the headphones is super easy. Playing the Last of Us with the ideal sound profile makes the Pulse headphones invaluable in making a great game even better. The only minor niggle is the sometimes touchy charge port that can be hard to connect.

Wicked experience! it's like being in an IMAX theatre when watching blu rays from your ps4. This headset is worth the investment if I want to get the extra bass and rumble from fighting games and action movies. The only downside is the battery life, 4 – 6 hours depending how much bass you adjust to. Comfortable, beautiful design, love the black. I will not go back to the classic Sony 7.1 headset – no way!. I might contemplate of getting another one of these for guests.

Fantastic sound, comfy over ears even with glasses on, hardly know you're wearing them, good bluetooth range. These have so many uses – providing that the USB dongle is receiving power you can plug any device into the 3.5mm jackpoint & be listening to it via cordless bluetooth. Best headphones I have ever owned to date.

perfectly fine on my end but my friends say my voice quality is kinda average on ps4. on PC with skype its perfect though. so something funky going on software wise. also hurts my ears but i have a big head.*EDIT the earpiece broke as i was wearing it, could be the dozen or so times its been dropped dunno, i am going to buy a turtle beach 500 now

I bought these to replace the old Sony PS3 wireless 7.1 headphones to use on my PS4. They far exceeded my expectations in sound quality, comfort and versatility. They are a giant leap from my original headphones, I have used them successfully on my Phone, Tablet & TV. I would recommend these for any PS gamer, great value for money!!

Not only is this an amazing wireless headset for use on a PS3\PS4 (if you headset doesn't have a control to balance chat vs soundtrack – forget about it), but it will work with anything with a USB port and a 3.5mm jack. Can the wife use it for the TV, yes she can. Can you use it to keep the noise of the XBox 360 down, yes she can.

These are comfortable on your head and they can be used both using the wireless function and also using the cable which requires no battery. Their battery life is reasonable and they produce great sound. I use it all the time and couldn't be happier with them.

I was so happy when I purchased this headset, and they have work beautifully with my PS3, PS4 and even my MacBook Pro. But now I have broken the USB adapter, which is easy to do. Sony doesn't sell replacements, so if you break it or lose it, you just flushed almost $200 down the toilet :-( .

Even thought their performance and comfort are excellent, I won't be buying another pair and will never purchase another wireless headset that has a USB adapter.

I have also got the Sony gold 7.1gold wireless headset, which i might add are also fantastic which when my pulse elite ones came i gave them to my Daughter, although the pulse elite edition are comfortable to wear the gold set have definetly got better padding for the top of your head but saying that i agree wth all the other reviews that these headsets are brilliant

After owning their predecessor I thought I'd give the new version a try.

Build quality and aesthetics is typically very high and the headset feels solid in the hands, however they weigh more than I expected.

Installation is Plug ‘n’ Play, on PS3 so I assume it will the same when my PS4 arrives.

The button and slider placement took a little getting used to after owning the previous version but that's to be expected.

The sound is fantastic! The Bass Impact feature, while I first thought it was a gimmick, I found it requires fine-tuning of Mode, Volume and Bass Impact setting to find the perfect balance and then it becomes an extremely impressive feature and definitely adds a further sense of realism and immersion to your gameplay.

On the downside, the upper padding is quite thin and combined with the extra weight results in this unit being less comfortable than the previous version (hence the 4 stars instead of 5)

All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and I highly recommend them if you're looking for a quality headset.

After much deliberation, and reading review after review to find the right headset to purchase, I stumbled upon these bad boys! The honest truth about these headset, is that the sound quality is amazing! You can hear every hiss, creak, footstep before it reaches you, allowing you to react accordingly. I can't stress how many times they've saved my ass from being crept up on in a firefight. As for the mic, friends tell me the can hear me crystal clear, and with the ability to shift the sound between voice and in-game on the fly is awesome! Now, people might say that having all the buttons on the headset makes switching mic on and of or volume adjustments difficult.. However it only takes a few wears to get used to wear the buttons are and after a while I could just make sound and volume adjustments on the fly without any hassle. The only thing that I would say that lets these bad boys down is that they can squeeze the head after prolonged use, and can get kind of hot behind the ears as well but then again.. I guess that's just a common thing to happen when using a headset for long periods at a time. The battery is standard, so does a good job for lasting 3–4 hours of game play before having to plug in for a recharge, so if you have a long enough cord… Then the fun will never stop ;) An the last little note I'd like to add is that, not only can you use them for your PS3, you can also use them for your laptop, and with your smartphones as well and these puppies are wicked awesome when listening to music! ;)

Working ok for now just waiting on the ps4 update so can use these to there full potential.

Great headset which is comparable to some of the more expensive headsets such as the Astro A50 and Triton Warheads.

The Pulse Elite is just an amazing wireless headset. It is the best wireless headset at a reasonable price. The Bass Impact technology is just unbelievable. The Virtual Surround Sound is the best part of the headset. I reckon is a must buy item, for such a reasonable price.

Straight out of the box this headset just plugs in and works! Sound is great for games and movies.

For the price, this wireless headset pretty much does it all. Others have fleshed out the details, I won't bore you with repeating them. The only disappointing thing is that sidetone is mentioned in the documentation and in online advertising (Sony's), but it doesn't work. People are complaining all over the web. So if you would like to have sidetone as a feature of a headset, and you see this set written up as having it, BEWARE, because it doesn't work. If sidetone doesn't matter for you, grab this set.

These things are awesome. I have a pair of Tritton Warhead 7.1s for my 360 and these Sony ones blow them away. Sound is crystal clear they are light to wear. I did a walk around the house interference test and they didnt skip a beat whereas the Warheads will static from a few metres away. Well worth the money.

I thoroughly enjoyed the sound that the Sony Pulse offers. It is superb with Bass-technology and I definitely recommend using it. The sliders and options on the side of the ear muffs are a bit hard to remember at start but you will pick it up. The VSS is great and I enjoyed the different modes that you could set the sound to. The other great thing about it was that you could literally use these for anything. Overall, I definitely recommend this headset to anyone who is looking for a great headset not only for the PS3 but even PC, etc.

Buying this, I had my doubts. But I was compelled enough to do a review. And its worth the buy..

The ONLy complaint I have is the sidetone feature is a bit quiet.

But so comfy, awesome features, and the audio in from other devices is a brilliant move ..so works direct from my tv as well. Brilliant device.

Great headset, the bass impact is good, the sound sound quilty is about the same as turtle beach.the down side is that some of my friends say that my mic is not the best, have to repeat myself sometimes .other wise good headset .
