Upgraded to Blu-ray from the DVD version and I was not disappointed. Watching it at 1080p is spectacular and being able to change between the original effects and the remastered ones is a real bonus.

I really have to question who rates DVDs was so much ignorance. Unless they added to the remastered version foul language the Original Star Trek series never had any. My understanding of the series was that ‘children’ could watch it and be in awe. The only problem was that there was a lot of death practically every episode. maybe PG would have been a more appropriate rating. Personally I think that whoever is in charge of rating movies and television series is manipulating the focus and genre.
The original series is by far the best of the star trek incarnations. The quality appears to be very good (so far at least!) on the blu-ray.
Every episode has some human issue you can relate to. Marvelous blend of Sci-Fi and down to earth humanity
Great nostalgic trip to where it all began but even better with the new remastered visuals. The only Enterprise crew.
Overall, the episodes look great. Colourful, clear and vibrant. It's the exterior shots of the enterprise that they've manufactured that look a bit shonky. Computer generated imagery has been used to expand on the limited pics of the Enterprise that were available from the original series (about 17 images I think)…but these look a bit cheap. We know what can be achieved with comp graphics these days, so maybe they should have done a little more work. Don't let that put you off, although it's like having a little stone in your shoe when you watch…
Fantastic to see the original series in HD. The enhanced special effects are great and I like the option of seeing the as released special effects.
I found the remastered series not as great as the original one but it was good though.
Must have series, need in any collection
I have been a Star Trek fan from the first moment it played on New Zealand television. I was certainly not disappointed with this Blu-ray release. It looks brand new! It is a pity that they did not manipulate it into wide-screen format but I guess there is a limit to what's possible. Being able to switch between the new digital special effects and the original ones is a great idea as it keeps the lovers of the original series with its use of scale models and tricky camera work very happy. (Perhaps other studios and directors could take note of this.. George Lucas for example.) So break out your Spock ears and sit back, relax, and watch the best looking and sounding Trek ever.
