Excerpt from Summary of the Transactions of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, Vol. 2: From September 1, 1846, to October 2, 1849, Inclusive In one case of cholera which fell under the Doctor's notice, brought on by eating buckle-berry dumplings, the discharges were of a bright red colour, like poke-berry juice - this colour did not result from the juice of the berries contained in the dumplings, but was evidently a secretion or exhalation from the intestines.
