"Musical, bloody vengeance!!!"
4 stars"

Sweenet Todd is a musical film based on a stage musical which is loosely based on an old “Penny Dreadful” magazine story printed in the late 1800's which tells the tale of a Barber who's victims go in for a “bit off the sides” and are never seen of heard from again.

Tim Burton is still truly a genius and master of artful cinema and his screen adaption of “Sweenet Todd” is dark, funny and Bloody with a capital “B”!!!

Oh yeah, and there's lot's of singing too (obviously it's a musical) with the main actor's including Mr Depp himself showing their vocal talents.

Also features an amusing cameo role from Sacha (Borat) Baron Cohen!

"Don't go in expecting Sleepy Hollow"
1 stars"

I was about to see it when it was at the cinema when my cousins warned me it was a musical. Nowhere in the trailer I saw did it give that indication, so thinking it'd only be a few small songs curiosity got the better of me as the story sounded interesting. So i got the dvd. Big mistake, this movie has promise, it is a dark tale and could have been rather good had it not been for the music.

They start singing all the time, its not just the odd song which could have been tolerable. These actors aren't singers so its sounds really bad. A short appearance by Sacha Baron Cohen and his hilarity isn't enough to save this movie.
