An arrangement was made with them for the actual carrying out of the recommendations in the case of one of the substations of the company for the purpose of demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed plan. The work of installing the negative feeders was done by the United Railways Co., and throughout the entire investigation the representatives of the Bureau of Standards had the cordial cooperation of the engineers and officials of the com pany, and the services of several of the company's men to assist in carrying on experimental work.
