Excerpt from Tenth Biennial Report of the Bureau of Labor of the State of Minnesota, 1905-1906 Such records show the number of males, females and chil dren under 16 years of age, the length of the working day and number of hours work during the week, the number of regular night workers, number Of regular Sunday workers, and such other in formation as the Commissioner of Labor may desire to make the subject of investigation in the interest of the commercial, indus trial, social, educational, moral and sanitary conditions of the labor ing classes, and the permanent prosperity of the respective indus tries Of the state. The reports of the factory inspectors form the basis of the general report on the inspection work which is herewith presented. Chapter 6, General Laws of 1893, however, contains the pro viso that in the reports of the Bureau of Labor no use shall be made of names Of individuals, firms or corporations supplying the information, such information being deemed confidential and not for the purpose of disclosing personal affairs. The inspection re ports therefore have been grouped according to industry, trade or nature of work carried on. The detailed reports showing where and how many establishments of a certain industry were found, together with the number of wage earners employed at the time Of the inspection.
