In the 25th Chapter of the Book of Leviticus, God told Moses to give direction to the Children of Israel to protect the land through the sabbatical cycle. For six years, they would farm the land for their sustenance. But, in the seventh year, the land would be allowed to rest and be replenished of its nutrients. This cycle would repeat for seven weeks of years, or forty-nine years, with the fiftieth year declared a special Sabbath, a Year of Jubilee. In this special year of rest, not only did the land receive a reprieve, but men were set free, possessions were returned to the original owners, provision was made for the people, and kingdom principles were followed by all. God is concerned about the occurrences in our daily lives and has made provision for our rest. Although there were points of rest for the Children of Israel during the sabbatical cycles, this did not fully address man's issues. Jesus came to establish a perpetual, spiritual Jubilee. For the Children of Israel to experience the rest designed for the seventh year, a plan was presented and had to be followed. The people and the land had to perform double duty in the sixth year in preparation of the Sabbath. This preparation was critical. In the forty- eighth year, God commanded a special blessing on the land that it may abound extensively in preparation of the special Sabbaths that followed. We must allow the wisdom of God to fully operate in our lives that we may complete our cycle of spiritual growth. We must yield to the righteousness of the Lord in Christ Jesus. The liberty Christ promised came on Pentecost. Where the Spirit of God is, there is liberty-or Jubilee! And our rest is present in the Holy Ghost. The complexities of life are seen more clearly when exposed to the light of the Word of God. The Spirit of Truth makes clear and distinguishable those things in our lives that are in contrast to the laws and nature of God. In this day of political correctness, situational ethics and abandoned morality, it is vital that we continue to grow in Christ, increasing in wisdom and knowledge, to protect and preserve our hearts and minds in this evil day. In addition, there are many, many benefits available to us - we can never exhaust them nor will we attain them all in this present world.
