After a worldwide catastrophe, the earth is in turmoil with millions killed, grieving, hungry, and cold. Governments around the world find themselves stretched with few power stations in operation, fuel and food at critically low levels, and chaos and criminality erupting in many nations as the famine bites. Extraordinary times for a small town church in eastern Scotland, a God-ordained time, the so-called tribulation period. Due to a false theology a sleeping church finds itself reeling and unprepared; Christ had not taken them up in the rapture and they would have to go through the refining fire after all. Having to learn quickly how to stand on Jesus's promise of power in signs and wonders, from the Holy Spirit, a remnant manages to survive, while also having to take great risks in order to proclaim the good news to the townspeople before they become enslaved by the mark of the beast system.
