The Garden Party & The Fly: Level 500 Reader (H) features modernized and simplified versions of two well-known stories by Katherine Mansfield. The Garden Party (1921) revolves around a party at the home of a wealthy middle-class family. It raises questions about discrimination, love, life and death. The Fly (1922) is set in the office of a successful businessman. Two visitors, an old man and a fly, force the businessman to think about and then forget somebody he loves.

Author Biography:

One of the most significant stories she wrote during her stay in France was Je ne Parle pas Français (1920) [I do not Speak French]. In 1921, Katherine travelled to Switzerland for medical treatment.
