From these materials, copied with servility, they have formed compositions which they have had the assurance to offer as original to the Public, under a variety of pompous titles. It was from a view of these inaccurate and fictitious compilations, that the Author was induced to write the History he now presents to the world. As an eye witness of his conquests, and of the glory that surrounds him, he -thought it a kind of duty incumbent on him to make this sovereign known, at an instant in which he has become so interesting to Europe.
