But I am not aware that he deigned to take any notice, either public or private, of this attack, or even showed a consciousness of its existence indeed, when his Horace was reprinted in 1728, he omitted to correct some undoubted slips in language pointed out by Johnson; from which we might infer that he had never seen the schoolmaster's production.
