Description

A good overview of the archaeology and history of Sardinia from the earliest inhabitation on the island, through the prehistoric period to the Romans, late Roman, medieval and late medieval periods. Rowland collates a huge amount of information and evidence, discussing and describing the major sites, research, different types of artefactual evidence (ceramics, metalwork, architecture, figurines) as well as evidence for religion, subsistence, politics and settlement. With an extensive bibliography, text notes and distribution maps of sites, this is a good reference source with limited interpretation. The illustrations are of poor quality.
