At a time when the Welsh devolution settlement has given prominence to the relationship between Wales and the Westminster parliament this facsimile reprint of Ivor Bowen's classic The Statutes of Wales of 1908 brings to the fore a context and depth to that relationship. Bowen's work reproduces the statutes and statutory provisions concerned specifically with Wales from Magna Carta to the beginning of the twentieth century. It is a book which retains a practical utility, but which also stands as a milestone in Welsh jurisprudence. Bowen's original text is reproduced here in full, together with a new preface by the legal historian Richard W. Ireland.
