If you are a serious fan of the books then you must get this book. It is puts the entire world created by George R R Martin into a grand mythological context. It is a mix of history, myth and legend. A definite must have.

"Great book, lovely art"

A really great book, must have for a lore buff who's into GoT. But be aware this is not like Tolkien's Silmarillion, not that that's a bad thing just know what you're buying, It's not an exhaustive source of knowledge on the series. I would have given it 4 (maybe 5) stars but the corners of book were damaged on delivery! Kind of a disappointment as I like to display my books.

A fantastic collation of the bits of ASOIAF history we have gleaned from the books, and a whole bunch of new stuff, along with a review of the geography of Westeros. The nature of the book means that it is centred on the Targaryen dynasty and “modern” Westeros (originally begun during the reign of Robert Baratheon, it is completed under Tommen), so it does have a number of blind spots; I’d have liked to see more about the origins of the Wall and the Nights Watch, for example, and the Faceless Men are only mentioned in passing. The Dothraki get a small mention, but there is a lot on the Free Cities as they’re much closer. Very entertaining read, especially the history of the Targaryen kings.

"Useful side book to the main series"

A great collection of historical facts from throughout the world of westeros, but goes over the events before Aegons conquest to quickly, in my opinion. Still a great book with great illustrations

Just a brilliant display of information. It's a real work of art both in its writing and the visual arts within. Got it as a birthday gift, and have been reading in read ever since.

This book is a must for anyone who has an insatiable appetite for GRRM's work. It's a large, in-depth and information-heavy volume with beautiful illustrations and everything you ever needed to know about the history of Planetos. The book itself makes a beautiful addition to any bibliophile's shelves. Love it!
