"Lots of bears with only one pattern"
5 stars"

The charm of this book is that all the bears start with one very basic pattern, then depending on the one you want to make you can follow the instructions for clothing and embellishments to make a bear for any occasion. All the bears are easy to make and don't take up much of any colour, which is great for all the odd ends of wool you might have sitting around.

Description

All the bears in the book are based on the same, simple knitted bear, instructions for which are provided at the beginning of the book and are easy enough for even novice knitters to follow. There are 20 unique designs, including a hiking bear complete with boots and a backpack, a beach-loving bikini bear, a sweet honey bee bear, and a pretty pink ballet dancer, each with its own knitted outfit and accessories. Every bear has its own special character, and the reader is bound to find at least one they just have to knit. Suitable for adults as well as children, they make ideal gifts, and of course there is nothing to stop the reader creating characters of their own that they can personalise to suit a particular person or occasion.

Author Biography:

Val Pierce's passion for knitting began when her father taught her to knit at the age of five. Later in life she began home knitting for yarn manufacturers, making test garments and checking patterns for mistakes. From there she progressed to making a huge range of garments, and later began designing items of her own. Before long her designs were appearing regularly in national knitting and crochet magazines in the UK. She has also taught knitting, as well as a range of other needlecrafts to both adults and children for a number of years. Val lives and works in Shropshire, UK.
