Excerpt from University Sermons: Preached Before the University of Glasgow 1873-1898 All the Sermons included in this volume were preached before the University, and all but the one placed first, during my brother's tenure of the office of Principal. Only two of them have previously been published: the Sermon What is Religion? Which was printed separately, and the Sermon on Corporate Immortality, which was contributed to the volume entitled Scotch Sermons. I have to thank Messrs. Macmillan Co. For allowing me to reprint it. The Sermon on The Law of Heredity in the Spiritual Life, which is placed last, was preached on Nov ember 4th, 1894, and was the last which the Principal preached before the University. In the following Session, 1895-6, he delivered the last part of his Gifford Lectures, which I hope to publish in the course of next year.
