Una Lee carries the treasure chest to the bed and sits down with it. Inside she finds newspaper clippings and photos, one is of a baby. On the back is written the name Una M. Linsley. But her grandmother's name had been Una M. Bruns. Why did it say Linsley? Una Lee continues to go through the clippings, various letters and photos. Among the paper clippings and letters she finds another aged photo dated 1888. It is a picture of a man and on the back is written the name Charles D. Linsley. By the dates on the photos Una Lee realizes that the baby picture of Una Mae had to of belonged to her great grandmother, Leona. Grandma Harris had never talked much about Leona. But, why did Grandma Harris keep these letters and this photo of a man called Charles Linsley? This name had not been spoken of in their family.Una Lee empties the remains of the cedar box onto the bed. She notices in the bottom of the box is a small ribbon sticking up from the bottom of the box. She pulls on the ribbon and is startled when she finds it lifts up a fake bottom that reveals another space below the original bottom of the box. Inside Una Lee finds faded newspaper posts, and a diary wrapped in old yellowed newspaper. The diary is very thin so that it would have been easy to hide beneath a fake bottom. On the front of the diary are the hand written words that read, LEONA JONES and one line down are the words, My Life as Leona Linsley. There is that name again. She realizes that her great grandmother had once been a Linsley, instead of a Bruns. What connection was this to Charles Linsley? Why had it never been mentioned in the family? Her curiosity piques, which begins a search in a different time and place. Who in the hell is Charles D. Linsley?
