Defiantly worth getting. Have been playing games with the motion plus and its a whole new level to playing with just the wii remote.
If you need an extra wii remote your best to get the package deal with the motion plus. Its works out to be alot cheaper than buying both separatly.

Yes, it does the same job as a white remote, but the black just looks cooler. It's also perfect for distinguishing between multiple remotes from a distance. The motionplus add-on is well worth having, too.
