Hugo Roxburton is a rich and spoilt young man holidaying in Switzerland with an American woman who intends to marry him. Whilst skiing, he sprains his ankle and is rescued by a charming Swiss girl named Utta, to whom he is irresistibly attracted, but he discovers an astounding secret about her and both his and Utta's lives are changed by the knowledge. Good and evil, love and hatred invade both their lives, as Hugo almost loses what he most prizes, before Utta finds wings on her heart.
