Womanism Rising concludes Layli Maparyan’s three-book exploration of womanist studies. Defiant and far-sighted, Womanism Rising takes readers on a journey into a new generation of concepts, ideas, and strategies for womanist studies.

Layli Maparyan is a professor of Africana studies and executive director of the Wellesley Centers for Women at Wellesley College. She is the author of The Womanist Idea and editor of The Womanist Reader.
