In complying with this request of some friends, I have tried to tell of those things about which some have inquired, leaving many things untold. I have tried to hide myself as much as one could in telling his own story, but I have tried to tell it as though I were seated in a drawing room surrounded by a group of friends who wanted to know something of the prob lems of a preacher in a big Eastern city and how God helped him in the consummation of some of his ideals.
