It's expensive, yes, but I don't regret spending that money at all. This is hands down the best controller I have ever used (for context, I'm a 38yo gamer who has played on pretty much every system since the Atari days). It exudes quality. Feels great, looks great, handles great. The standard XB1 controller is pretty damn good, but going back to it after using one of these makes it feel cheap and nasty. Takes a while to get used to the back paddles, but once you have that sussed, you will never look back! If you play XB1, or PC games that are better with controller, then get this! You will not regret it!

When you first open the package you know the controller is going to be good from the better quality finish, to the paddles, this is worth every cent.

The Xbox Elite does for the controller what the likes of Razer and Logitech have been doing for PC peripherals for some time, and with great effect. It's been reviewed elsewhere, Kotaku and IGN for example, so I won't elaborate further. I thought I'd mention that the CronusMax Plus adapter allows it's use with a Playstation 4. For those familiar with the device, a recent firmware update allows the use of an inexpensive 4-port USB hub to bypass periodic authentication. This makes the Elite controller preferable to the more expensive and greatly inferior Scuf or Cinch controllers, and a boon to those who don't like the symmetrical Dual Shock 4. Google Cronus Max Plus for the details. Please note that without an Xbox One, you will need a Windows 10 PC to remap the controller. The Xbox Accessories app is available at no cost through the Microsoft Store.

If your looking for an upgrade then this worth the extra money spent. The actual response from trigger and buttons are great. Paddles will take a while to get use to but have them equipped to get the feel. Configeration options are on point. Well worth the extra money spent

Very cool controller, I recommend it to anyone who plays Xbox on a regular basis. Allows you to press buttons without taking your thumb off the joystick, making gameplay much more fluent. The hair triggers can easily be switched on for faster reaction times for fps or switched off allowing you to put various pressure on the triggers which is ideal for racing games. the back paddles are metal and clip on with magnets making them easy to wash and unlikely to break.

Only bad thing I have to say about the controller is the rubber grips on the back start to peel off after extended use (I have had to remove mine as they have expanded and don't fit back into the slot) but even with this con I still rate it 5 stars.

Getting rid of the adapter and using a std 3.5mm jack means easier use of my Turtle X42's, I am looking forward to spending the time to set this up for my gaming style and not having to use Kontrol freeks. Quick reload and drop from rear paddles look good. Arrived today, quality built as I hoped, feels hefty, paddles fall to hand well, will sync and use tonight.

Great controller but just doesn’t last ! Gone through 3 Elite controllers all with the same problems. Grips fall off, Lb snaps loose and left stick drift. Concept is great but for the price you’d expect it to last more than a month without falling apart…Take into consideration that I put a lot of hours in everyday… It’s sad because I feel like I can’t play without it now — so on to my fourth

Works as it should! Also purchased the WiFi Dongle from Microsoft and it was easy to set up and use. Great service from Mighty Ape – delivered when they said that they would. I would deal with them again!

Good controller obviously. A friend from aussie sent me down 1 down as it was cheaper to do that than replace my broken Scuf. To be honest if you don't play a fps which demands you to jump and ads/shoot at the same time there are little benefits in buying this controller. Yeah if you have the money go ahead and buy it for all the “cool” features like the grip and the durable material. But in terms making you a better player in what ever other game/genre it is, the controller does not perform. I feel like microsoft has mislead a lot of different players. The controller has been based off a Scuf which was made for fps's.

Get this controller. It's honestly so dam good. I didn't really understand the hype but now i do. So comfortable and definitely feels durable. The interchangeable sticks and customisation for dead zones for the triggers helps so much. Also the paddles on the back are a god send.

Trully an awseome controller, but one massive oversite, you can not assign the 4 new paddles to anyting but the existing buttons on the Elite controller…

PC Buyers Beware !

This joystick is excellent piece of hardware but our charging kits Nyko etch wont fit. Only the Microsoft Battery fits. Nyko releasing new pack end of Jan 2016. But well worth the wait, I don't even use my Halo controller anymore…

Shannon you can't hype something that is not designed and programmed to change for use in another platform that has no integration and without doubt security software that could cause your PS4 or any PS4 that is not designed at all for the Xbox One Elite controller, just buy Xbox One console because you will damage your PS4 and wish you had listened to me

Bought this when it originally came out. Within 3 weeks, the controller wasn't responding properly, the rubber on it had begun to fall away from it and the paddles at the back kept falling off regardless of how hard they were pushed back on. Definitely not worth what the cost was – Ended up having to buy another controller and found that the standard Xbox One controllers are more durable. Hopefully, they can fix the design and maybe relaunch-

I used this for about 4 months and it was fine, didn't use it for the next 6 months. Started using it again and a week in and part of the right trigger plastic part has snapped off internally.

I now cannot use the trigger stop, and it feels like soon the trigger will not function. I have taken great care with this product but it's clearly made of poor quality

This is the best Xbox one controller you can buy!! It feels very solid to hold and very comfortable in the hands for long gaming sessions and great weight and also with the interchangeable par­ts.

The extra buttons and settings really help to personalise your Xbox experience and the control feels great.

Loved my controller since i got it over 2 years ago now but ive had to replace the rubber grips once and going to have to do it again as the are falling off again Do not buy if you dont mind replacing grips every 6 months

Ever since I got my xbox one x I was a bit disappointed about how cheap the standard xbox controller felt, even compaired to standard ps4 controllers it just feels so…cheap and flimsy, so after some research I settled on the elite controller, and what a controller it is…just pair it with your xbox, download the software and away you go, its a little on the pricey side but its such a massive improvement I dont care about price. If your on the fence about getting one, just go for it, it is a bit heavier than standard but you get that.

Brilliant controller.works a dream.

Have recommend the Elite to numerous friends as its the best controller to use. So comfortable to play with and can easily be stored in the case when not in use. Hve managed to take such good care of it due to durability and the useful way of compacting it back into my desk draw when finished.

Definitely the best controller I've owned great price for what you get compared to what you would get with a scuf or something. Have no problems with it so far but I've only owned for like a week with little use. Would recommend if you are an Xbox enthusiast and want to improve you game.

I bought one of these to replace a day one controller who's time had finally come. Yes my old reliable controller was still functioning, but it had that old time wear feel to it, and the A button was fully worn.

This controller is expensive, but I managed to pick it up on sale here for a 5 percent discount, and while it lives up to the hype I do feel the need to point out it's shortcomings.

The “Change View”, “Menu”, “Home”, and the BAXY buttons all have the exact same feel as a regular controller. This means they will likely wear out at the same rate. Likewise the D-PAD has the same feel as the regular controller so I'd expect a similar wear rate on that as well.

The headphone jack is incompatible with Apple earbuds, although there is a workaround for that. Basically what happens is you will hear a tone/noise coming through the earbuds unless you turn off Mic and Mic monitoring as apparently Apples buds use a switched earth and mic on their jacks.

So why then is the controller so expensive-

Aside from the extra functionality, replaceable analog sticks and dpad, I think a big chunk of the price is the case Microsoft gives you to hold the accessory and its accessories. The case has a high quality rigid feel to it, similar to what you'd get on a high-end shaver, and given it's proprietary nature I'd estimate the case add's from 30–50 dollars to the price.

This device met all my expectations in terms of build quality and performance, and in my opinion has replaced the PS4 controller as the “best” proprietary controller available (yes I have PS4 and XBox, this is not speculation).

Could have been the best controller ever designed.

• Really nice build quality. Easily the best Microsoft controller ever.
• Nice configuration/cus­tomisation options.
• Finally fixed the Dpad, The “satellite” attachment could even be used in fighting games. Finally…
• Hair trigger adjustment is a nice touch.

but…

• It's a bit pricey.
• Advanced configuration options do not work in Windows 7 (UWP app)
• Paddles could be designed better, can be awkward to get used to and get in the way.
• Should have used quick response buttons on the face
• No long dome style thumbstick attachment

Still probably overall the best gamepad you can get, Razer's build quality is just too poor.

If they could make this work on PS4, I would not use anything else…This is just amazing, feels amazing and actually helps you improve your playing utilising the custom buttons on the underside of the controller…

I use to suck at COD multiplayer, never played multiplayer..Now I suck less, instead of being the worst player I'm now the second to worst player, which is something haha

In all seriousness, get this controller…it is worth it, I love it.

I have been using the controller since Jan 2016. Great piece of kit. The build quality makes the standard controller feel like cheap plastic. Remapping the paddles to replace lb and rb perfect for fps shooters to jump or throw a sneaky grenade without taking your finger off the trigger. If you have cash handy pick one up.

Perfectly weighted and delightfully tactile with precise controls making for an awesome gaming experience.

Nice solid weighty feel with really great feeling sticks. They feel sensitive and accurate. Customisable button layouts and switchable sticks attached magnetically. The DPad feels like it comes loose sometimes with the big multi direction DPad when you get too enthusiastic on the left direction. Might be better with the normal shaped DPad on.

Just out of the box, the quality is amazing, the feel is awesome, I am looking forward to a luxury gaming experience. On the delivery, I ordered this product midday and it arrived 9:39am the next day, Auckland to Queenstown. This would NOT have happened if Mighty Ape were not super quick with the dispatch, thank you.

Good selection of options for easy change Between games for different formats. Should not have waited so long to get it.

It's just a good controller but it's a bit over priced.

After looking at reviews I decided to get my bf an elite, he seems to love it and says its awesome and is so much better than original controller. Even traders of mod controllers on ebay recommend this over the mod controllers they sell.

Using this on pc with the wireless adapter is the best.
