NEW Faster Shipping Options at Mighty Ape

By Paul

At Mighty Ape we always strive to deliver the highest quality service and we take customer feedback very seriously.

We realise that in the final months of 2013 our delivery times weren't up to the standards you expect of us. They weren't up to the standards we expect of ourselves.

We've been working hard to resolve these issues, and today we have two major announcements:

  1. We've fired our freight provider and contracted a new provider with service level guarantees to make sure you get your parcel within the timeframe you expect.
  2. We now offer an optional Express Delivery service via DHL Express. Orders shipped via DHL Express are delivered within 1–2 business days to metro areas (this is “worst case” and in most cases we are seeing overnight delivery). The upgrade price depends on the size of your order, but start at just $4.99.

We've also improved transparency on delivery times by adding delivery ETAs to both the product page, and the checkout. These ETAs are updated in real-time depending on the time you place your order and the delivery address you have selected in the checkout. The goal here is to give you as much delivery information as possible before you place your order.

If you have any questions about our new delivery options please post a question in the comments or drop us an email.

We believe fast, reliable delivery is the number one ingredient to offering a world-class online shopping experience. We're super-excited to have upgraded our delivery options and we hope you'll give them a whirl in the near future.

Thanks for shopping at Mighty Ape!

I don't get it, everything I order already gets there next day or the day following that. Seems like the default is now 3-6 days unless I pay extra, or have I misunderstood.

Whilst this is a huge big thumbs up, have to say my concern with MApe has never been the speed, my items nearly always turn up in under 2 days! My last package I bought however (a mine craft figurine) turned up in some shoddy cheap cardboard "slip" which had massively crushed the item inside to an appealing level. As the item was intended to be a gift, and I didn't want to give it to anyone looking damaged I simply kept it.. I've never had a problem with MApe so I didn't bother complaining, it was Xmas after all! But that did kinda upset me.

What about rural areas? I am only ten minutes outside of upper hut yet it normally ends up sitting at Kaiwharawhara depot for a few days and always gets here on a Friday even if i order it on Monday

which is cool. Mighty Ape always have problems on shipping, it took 10 days for my splinter cells: blacklist to deliver to Sydney even I chose 3 days.

Will try to order some games and see if it is true.

    Good work, Mighty Ape!

i agree andre. it seems like if we want the same shipping we were getting , it will cost more.. however if this is the case then ill be looking elsewhere to buy anything i need that i would have previously got from mightyape. the smilecity points arent worth paying extra for shipping

  • Aaron says: 4 February 2014, 7:04pm

Will there still be a shipping option for Post Office boxes? No post office box delivery is a deal-breaker for me.

I don't understand how the new service is different from the typical 1-2 day delivery I have been getting with CourierPost thus far (to the South Island), other than it is now more expensive?

  • Linda says: 4 February 2014, 7:48pm

Will we still get the option to sign for the delivery

  • Owen says: 4 February 2014, 8:08pm

Any options for updating existing orders with these new "Postage Options"? IE Preorders?

  • Penelope says: 4 February 2014, 11:19pm

Andre, you must be one of the lucky few !
My order didn't turn up at all thanks to the previous freight provider.

After weeks of waiting for it to arrive I had no choice but to ask for a refund......which I received promptly, but would much preferred to have received my order.

Ignore that smiling monkey alongside my comment above; it should've had this one http://www.mightyape.com.au/images/blog/emoticons/angry.png

What about Prime ape how does this new delivery stuff effect this

  • Paul says: 5 February 2014, 9:12am

Hi monkeys! We just want to clarify as there seems to be some confusion - this blog post is referring to our Australian shipments only. Our next day delivery guarantee (in-stock items) still stands for New Zealand. :)

  • John says: 5 February 2014, 11:18am

I am disappointed with your decision to discontinue NZ post courier service. Your delivery service has always been first class and always reliable. I have a P.O.Box number and always have real trouble getting any parcel delivered efficiently by other couriers to my physical address. I have to stay at home to accept delivery not knowing which day it may turn up. I will have to consider my options.
    Regards John C.

  • Aaron says: 5 February 2014, 12:28pm

lol john! look at what they said 2 hours before your post. how could you miss that! but yes the courier service mightyape use in nz is perfect and damn good for the price

  • liam says: 5 February 2014, 11:59pm

Can you get express on pre-orders?

  • Mighty Ape says: 7 February 2014, 9:29am

Liam, yes you can get express delivery on pre-order items. If the express delivery option does not show when you place the pre-order contact our customer service monkeys and they'll sort it for you :) http://www.mightyape.com.au/help/contact

  • michael says: 21 February 2014, 4:18pm

what in the hell its still $7.90 and then you want $4.90 for express ? it costs $7.90 to deliver one game ? for crying outloud when i got this email i would have thought you may have gotten a better price point it shouldn't cost $7.90 for one item and no i wont buy multiple items because just about every item i can think of is $5 or $7 more then it costs to buy else were and that's with out adding on your $7.90 shipping , really don't think i want to bother anymore.

  • Simon says: 5 March 2014, 11:48am

Michael I'm finding since they put up the price of delivery the same thing. Beyond 2 souls in store is 40 dollars by the time i processed everything it came to be 37.90 I was half debating whether just to buy it in store or not but then figured id save myself a few dollars. Lets be fair if i ever go to trade it in they take a few dollars off just because it doesnt have the australian classification and they need to put a sticker on it. What I don't get is used to be 5 dollars for 3-6 day wait now its 7.90 for the same thing?

After a weeks wait for my PS4 lunch games, and now waiting week for Infamous SS, which still hasn't arrived, I think I will stick to the higher priced retail stores. At least I know I'll get my games on release.
