1/43 Zephyr 6 Mk3: Green
"The MkIII Zephyr and Zodiac range was launched in spring 1962 and featured an attractive and lower body style which reflected American Fords without copying them. Although initially a Ford UK design project, the styling had a complex gestation as Italian coachbuilder and stylist, Frua, was asked to produce a prototype which Canadian-born stylist Roy Brown, on secondment from Detroit, used some elements of when producing the finished shape. It was a huge success with 291,899 of all models being produced before the Mk4 replaced them in 1966. The manual column-change Zephyr 6 modelled was produced in one of Ford's more unusual colours, Spruce Green, and is owned by Arbroath-based Ford enthusiast John Cumming.
John worked in Ford dealership Parkgrove Garage, Edinburgh, as a young man from 1970 until 1977 and has retained a passion for the marque after leaving the trade. He purchased the car, sight unseen, in early 2016 from well-known dealer Malcolm Bishop at Spurr Classics in Sheffield after reading a magazine feature about it, and is pleased with the generally sound Zephyr 6. It was first registered in April 1965, has covered just over 100,000 miles, and Cumming is the seventh owner but he knows little about its history otherwise although it has obviously been restored and subsequently looked after. Because of their inherent strength, many MkIIIs were destroyed in banger racing so finding an original specification example is difficult."
