We bought this clock for our 4 year old who suddenly became afraid of the dark and was waking through the night – the eyes open/closed mechanism really appealed. It's a cute little clock and our four old has taken to it, it's not quite solved the waking-up issues, but it has helped. For me though, this clock needs a bit of work to make it worth the price. The controls are clunky, difficult to remember, and overly complicated. The buttons could have been a lot more friendly without too much effort, and the digital clock face is particularly under-whelming (there's no real way a child is going to learn to tell the time from those teeny ‘hands’). The sound of the alarm is tinny and very fake sounding. The main hassle is that you have to set again every night, and it's not as easy as pushing one button, or closing his eyes. So sometimes we don't remember to do it before lights go out, and then she thinks it's time to wake up before it actually is. Although it's the only clock of it's sort on Mighty Ape, and we're okay with it, it's certainly not polished enough to deserve the > $60 price tag.
