Description

A heartwarming book, concerning a man who adopts a little black dog, Ebony. Ebony loves the man, his new yard, and the daily walks his owner takes him on when he goes for coffee with his friends in town. One day the owner loses his job and can no longer afford to continue his daily walks for coffee and it is getting colder. The man's friends agree they should buy him coffee and breakfast at the little cafe, and the owner still took Ebony with him. But he sure that Ebony would have to stay home when winter came. The owner of the cafe decides to take up a collection for the little dog, to get him a warm coat. Ebony wonders about what the winter will be like and starts to shiver. As the days grow shorter, the winds blow harder, and now Ebony is cold, but not for long as the people of the cafe give him his new coat! A beautiful red tartan! This is so timely as people are being laid off from work or have been for a while. What happens to their routines as times change? How can communities help out? This is an awareness of harder economic times and children worry too, what will become of our pets? A reassuring book for grades K-2.
