The statistics highlighted that three million people worldwide die annually from complication of TB and there are estimated 8 million of new cases each year, and today more people die from tuberculosis than ever before. In recent history, however, poor compliance with the prolonged and complicated chemotherapeutic regimens currently used to treat the disease, in conjunction with the advent of the AIDS epidemic and the increased mobility of human populations, has led to the emergence of numerous multidrug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis strain.
