Description

A Long Winter in Dakota Territory, the first book in Thimbles and Acorns Wear and When series, features sewing patterns for a twelve piece wardrobe inspired by Laura Ingalls Wilder's book "The Long Winter". The patterns include the Prairie Rose, Mary and Laura, and Carrie dress patterns as well as our Emacipation Union Under Flannel (Union Suit) and Long Winter Coat and Hood patterns. Beautiful photography, engaging historical narratives, step-by-step fully illustrated instructions, and patterns for multiple skill levels make this a must have book for all historical sewing enthusiasts. As an added bonus, this first set of books includes pattern pieces in THREE sizes designed to fit 18-inch, 16-inch, and 14.5-inch dolls such as American Girl(R), A Girl for All Time(R), and WellieWishers(TM)

Author Biography:

Born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, Shari Fuller first picked up a needle and thread to mend a doll dress when she was only 3-years-old. From that time on, she was fascinated with sewing. When she was eight-years-old, she spent a winter at her grandparents house where her grandmother gave her sewing lessons and her grandfather gave her a set of Little House on the Prairie books. Shari's first sewing project was a rag doll modeled after Laura Ingalls' doll, Charlotte. Sewing not only helped Shari build a special bond with both of her grandparents, but also gave her a deeper desire to learn. Math began to make more sense as she learned to measure, cut, and turn odd shaped flat pattern pieces into interesting three dimensional designs. History became more exciting as she became captivated by the dynamic fashions through the ages. This is the foundation that her Thimbles and Acorns brand is built on; building relationships and encouraging learning.
