Description

Set in Australia against the backdrop of World War 1, A Prayer for Brother William is a heartwarming and often humorous story by Australian author Vincent Gilvarry about life on the home front, which in some cases, can be as perilous as a battlefield. The loss of his parents was more than William Cahill could handle. He retreats into a world of his own; abandons his brother and sisters and disappears for weeks at a time. His life threatens to spiral out of control and would have done so if it hadn't been for Aunt Augusta. She drags him back from the brink, and in the process, transforms his life and that of his siblings. Augusta Cahill might be dreadfully wealthy and a pathetic old socialite, but she can be a force to be reckoned with.

Author Biography:

Vincent Gilvarry is an Australian author and he will be the first to admit that he is not particularly fond of a structured approach to creativity, and when he does sit down to write, the ideas just flow. Unlike many authors who prepare their work in detail, he just goes for it. He usually gets an idea in his head at three o'clock in the morning, and pecks away at it, just to see what will happen, and after a while the magic kicks in, and the story tells him where to go. He has qualifications in the arts and psychology and has had a variety of jobs over the years. One of those was an opportunity to work in an art program in a psychiatric hospital in Melbourne for six years, but in the year 2000, his life took a detour down a somewhat different path. One fine summer day, the Muse of Art and Crafts packed her bags and waved goodbye, but a few moments later, her twin sister, the Muse of the Written Word popped her head around the door, and she has been whispering in his ear ever since.
