Paris-based electronic artist Poté builds worlds that are raw and
expansive. His music treads between his interest in emotive, exploratory song
writing and the celebratory, rhythmic sound of
his Caribbean heritage.
A Tenuous Tale of Her is the first album release on Bonobo’s new label,
OUTLIER – formed in partnership with Ninja Tune. The new imprint
will reflect the more club focused side of what I’m building with OUTLIER he
explains.
An atmospheric, nuanced album, Poté wrote A Tenuous Tale of Her with a
theatrical play in mind.
Bonobo invited Poté to support him on his European tour, it gave him the
confidence to take a further step from club-oriented music. It made me realise
this could actually work, he says.
Poté moved to Paris in 2019, a change which has widened his perspective on
life. It really shakes your reality up, he says. He made the move while he was
working on his A Tenuous Tale of Her, and it gave him a new sense of
direction and freedom.
