Unlike other academy kits that I have made before, this one had good moulding with minimal flashing. The kit also came with a stand, which makes the kit even better value.

This is a very basic Wildcat kit. Cockpit detail is very sparse consisting of a pilot, seat, joystick and not much else! Interesting fuselage construction and simple landing gear construction (compared to the Airfix). One set of US Navy decals.
Easy kit to build, looks great when detailed.
When the Japanese attacked the United States in 1941 the most modern fighter in the Navy was the Grumman F4F Wildcat. Although the Wildcat was small it was not as fast or manoeuvrable as the Japanese Zero Fighter but it was a very durable machine. However in the hands of an experienced pilot the Wildcat could best the feared Zero. Thankfully the Grumman fighter was able to fend off the enemy until the more powerful Hellcat was available about one year later.
