In the year of 1894 Alexander Durand is on the spirited rebellious side of youth and never passes up a bet or a good whiskey. But when a bet goes horribly wrong, he must flee France for his life. With a mysterious glowing blue stone that he found on the island of Terceira he sails to Massachusetts where he takes up refuge with a feisty elderly lady named Mrs. Smith. There he places the stone in an old pocket watch and is transported through time to meet the lovely Sarah Fletcher in the year 1795 who is facing an arranged marriage to a horrible tyrant. Soon what he thought he left in France catches up with him. Can he find a way to free himself of his past and free Sarah from a forced marriage? More importantly can he find a way that the two can be together?
