This is a really beautiful book. Carmilla Rose Garcia is one of my favourite artists and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is one of my favourite books, so of course I had to get this to add to my bookshelf. Garcia has taken the illustrations by John Tenniel in the original book and re-interpreted them in her quirky, surrealist painting style. The paintings really do make the whole book. It's really more of a picture book, but it's not child-like as the story hasn't been watered down to fit the attention span of a child. I really couldn't think of a better artist to illustrate Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Garcia's style matches the story so well. They both have that kooky quality, yet they also share dark undertones. The colours may be bright, and everything may seem happy, but there's a dark side that may not necessarily be seen. If you're going to get any version of Alice Adventure's in Wonderland, get this :)
