Description

This is the official guide to the 281 miles of the Appalachian Trail in Maine, from the summit of Mt. Katahdin in Baxter State Park south and west to the New Hampshire border. This trail guide is a planning guide with rich historical background on the lands. The seven, four-color, topographic maps packaged with it--at 1:62,500 scale with modified shaded relief--contain detailed trail-route descriptions on the backs, with elevation profiles. Published by the Maine Appalachian Trail Club and distributed by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.

Ray WalkinHome Ronan is the editor of this package published and produced by the Maine Appalachian Trail Club, one of 31 organizations affiliated with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, volunteers from which maintain the footpath and such facilities as shelters and bridges, monitor the boundaries of its adjacent public lands, and educate hikers on sustainable behavior in the backcountry.
