Description

Born in Cairo, Egypt in an old garden district; one of the City's landmarks wherein the homes of politicians and top government officials as well as distinguished and famous personalities. Maha was raised by Mamouna, a single working mother; although officially married, who struggled to raise her kids against all odds, challenging the strong will of an estranged husband; who cared less about his family, whether by choice or by being torn between too many obligations. Maha's mother was a woman of substance, resilient and ambitious on her own accord. She aspired to get a diploma from the Institute of Economics and Political Science to join the diplomatic corp. Her family quenched her ambitions and settled for a diploma in social services. In fact, her outlook on life and her easygoing demeanor did not set well with her own siblings. However, she was determined to fulfill her ambitions through her kids. Maha grew up tied to her mother's apron strings. She rode the crashing waves and managed to reach the shores, to tell her story in this autobiography.
