Author Biography:

Swamiji, formerly Bishnu Joshi, came to United States after completing his doctorate in veterinary medicine from India. He received an MS in veterinary medicine from the University of Missouri and a PhD in clinical pathology from the University of California, Davis. He taught immunopathology and hematology as an assistant professor in a medical college in Tennessee for a few years and became a clinical immunologist at the VA hospital. After passing the state examinations he became the first foreign veterinary practitioner in the state of Tennessee. He specialized in hematology, skin diseases and small-animal medicine. Some after establishing his clinical practice Swamiji was initiated into Tantra by his guru, Acharya Sakitpada, the eminent Dakshinpanthi Tantra Yoga and Vedantist. Acharya Saktipada also imparted Swamiji with practical knowledge of Vedanta. Swamiji practiced Tantra under his Guru's guidance for many years. After heeding his spiritual call to abandon his practice and become a renunciate, Swamiji took sanyasa and devoted himself completely to spiritual sadhana. Swamiji has been a renunciate since his initiation into sanyasa in 2002. The main goals of Swamiji's life are to teach people, help them transform their negativity into positive sentiments and attain self-realization. Swamiji gives lessons on Bhagavata Gita, Upanishads and Vedanta and instructs his disciples in various aspects of yoga. His is a practical approach towards religion and spirituality.
