Description

While firmly rooted in mathematics, this is a book that aims to be accessible to any bridge player. It develops ideas about probability and information theory and applies them to bridge in a way no previous author has done. Concepts such as Vacant Spaces, Restricted Choice and how splits in one suit affect the probabilities in other suits, are discussed in depth. Readers will emerge with a much better understanding of how to apply these ideas at the bridge table, and with some very practical rules and advice that will make them more successful players.

Author Biography:

Robert F. MacKinnon is a retired mathematician whose work has appeared in many bridge magazines, worldwide. He has written two previous books, including the remarkable Samurai Bridge, and he conducts an online blog on the mathematics of bridge.
