When school psychologist Amy Sheffield moves to a small town in Ohio, she is looking for a quiet place to start over after her husband and child are killed in a house fire. She has no idea that she is about to become an expert on the pathology of serial killers. The first few deaths seem to be a series of tragic accidents, when a child who is afraid of heights falls from a hiking trail and a girl with severe allergies ingests peanuts causing anaphylactic shock. Yet, as more children die from methods employing their worst fears, it becomes apparent that a killer, who knows the community well, is preying on innocence. When Amy takes in a foster child to protect her from the suspected killer, danger strikes close to home. Will Amy be able to identify the killer before she, or the little girl in her care, becomes the next victim? Or has evil found the perfect masquerade to remain undetected?
