Description

Bronislaw Huberman was a child prodigy who played his violin before kings and queens. As an adult, he became one of the greatest violinists in the world. And then came the horrors of Nazi Germany and the violence and hatred towards the Jews of Europe. The time period was 1933 - 36. Huberman decided he needed to save his fellow Jews in Europe. He witnessed Jewish musicians losing their jobs. He saw their desperate state. So he took action, using his violin as a sword. When he needed to raise the necessary funds, he turned to Einstein for help. When he needed political clout, he turned to Chaim Weizmann, the great Jewish leader. This is the inspiring true story of Bronislaw Huberman and the founding of an orchestra in Palestine, later the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. This is book #1 in The Groundbreaker series: Inspiring books for middle-grade readers about extraordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Author Biography:

Peter Aronson is a lawyer and children's book author living in New York City with his wife and two teenage daughters. Peter began writing books for kids after seeing his children read one dystopian-type book after another. Thus was born his Groundbreaker series: Short biographies for middle-grade readers about extraordinary people doing extraordinary things. Also, coming in the fall is the start of Peter's Mandalay Hawk adventure series - novels about a wacky and extremely motivated 15-year-old girl who decides to tackle the world's most monumental problems. Mandalay has no clue and no chance, but she and her friends decide they want to stop global warming. You'll read a lot about KRAAP: Kids Revolt Against Adult Power. When Peter is not researching or writing his books, Peter continues to practice law, focusing on elder law, assisting senior citizens with their legal problems. Before Peter was a practicing lawyer, he was an award-winning journalist covering the legal world. Peter wrote newspaper stories for the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, The Recorder (San Francisco) and The National Law Journal. Peter produced TV shows for Court TV. Peter covered many prominent cases, including the Rodney King beating trial, the OJ Simpson murder trial and Bush v. Gore, the legal case following the 2000 presidential election.
