Description

Their love is caught in the crossfire of the American Revolution. Militia soldier Fergus Shaw wants only to defend his home and family from British invaders in the war-torn South. But sparks fly when he meets the feisty beauty Melina Bryant, a refugee from the captured city of Charlestown, who blames the militia for failing to save her city. Forced to leave behind everything and everyone she's ever loved, Melina must make a prudent marriage to protect her property. There's no room in her plan for Fergus-but her heart longs for him all the same, creating a conflict that tests the boundaries of loyalty and devotion. Will Fergus and Melina's love overcome the turmoil of war, or be lost in its wake?

Author Biography:

A lifelong resident of the American South, Kit Hawthorne makes her home on a Texas farm that has been in her husband's family for seven generations. She spent several years as a semiprofessional musician, singing, composing, and playing Irish pennywhistle in a Celtic folk band. All those ballads and boat songs awakened in her a love for a Scottish heritage that spans both sides of the Atlantic. She's an avid reader, especially of history, biography, mystery, theology, and romance, and enjoys logging her reads (and plotting her life) in her Bullet Journal. She also enjoys drawing, sewing, quilting, knitting, and restoring old furniture to beauty and usefulness.
