Description

It seems that we spend the first half of our life collecting stuff and then we spend the second half of our life trying to getting rid of stuff. As a professional organizer, I have helped many individuals organize their homes. Often times, they didn't want to just toss the things they had, so from their experiences came the birth of Cash From Your Clutter. What can we do with things other than toss them? Is it possible to make some money? How hard is it? Where do I go? Who do I ask? So where do I start? There are many ways and it may depend on how the stuff arrived at your front door. Did you inherit it from a family member that has passed way? Or from several family members who have passed? Or was it the silent type of accumulation that slowly crept into your home while you weren't looking? Or are you the eccentric type-having had several hobbies, interests, likes, passions or careers in your past? The concept of this book is that there are things lying around your home that could bring you money. Some things may be obvious, like piles that you have set aside for a garage sale someday. Things you may have inherited, but you and your other family members don't want them.

Author Biography:

Growing up, Nancy Miller was surrounded by garbage. Trash put food on the table. Her family owned the garbage service in Hutchinson, Minnesota; a small town that managed to create more refuse than one might imagine. No one knows clutter better than Nancy. Like most Midwestern dreamers, she hopped a bus to Los Angeles, where she would work her way to the top. Now, all grown up, Nancy is an internationally-recognized expert on making space; helping people carve out the room they need to move, live, and create. Over the past fifteen years, Nancy has achieved rock-star status in Personal Organizing circles. She sings her siren songs of simplicity and messages of minimalism to packed audiences (seated alphabetically in neat little rows) in over 150 performances each year. In 1997, Nancy was awarded the golden statue stars like her crave when she accepted "International Who's Who of Entrepreneurs" honors. (Following her own rule, when she brought the trophy home, she found something else to throw away or donate.) She has earned numerous other awards, including the Golden Microphone Award for Speaking Excellence, awarded by the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the National Speakers Association. She is also a past member of the National Association of Professional Organizers' Golden Circle. This elite designation recognizes Nancy's service in the War on Clutter and gives her a backstage pass to professional development activities that will help her hone her craft, to secure her place in history as a decluttering legend. Heralded as a modern-day Mary Poppins, Nancy wrote the books on getting organized, Clutterology(TM) Getting Rid of Clutter and Getting Organized and The Clutter Bug Attacks Junk Mail, Spam and Telemarketers(R). During on-site consultations, Nancy collaborates with individuals, families, and businesses to ensure they have everything they need and want. And nothing they don't. Neat woman. Neat ideas. Neat message. If you are interested in additional books, CDs and videotapes, our Web site lists additional resources.
