Description

The problems that Social Services encounter when dealing with children who have sustained serious injuries, and where the parents' explanation is not borne out by medical opinion, is at the heart of all child protection practice. Essential reading for all child protection professionals, this book offers analysis, based on original research, of decision-making in such cases and of the issues relating to good and bad practice. The authors consider family contexts, the nature and interpretation of injuries, and the different explanations for them, and offer specific recommendations for making better decisions in child protection contexts.
