"A blend of scifi, comedy, great action and not so great action."

Entertaining movie though with a sloppy English translation. I imagine that the story would have been more enjoyable had the translated text not been so broken in places. There are also a few scenes where there's a lot going on and I couldn't keep up with both text and action because the text flashes by with only a few words at a time, something I have found to be common in a lot of Chinese movies with English text translations.

The movie plot is the tried and tested good vs evil plot with hilarious comedy relief by the lead actor and as such is reminiscent of comedy / fantasy / martial arts titles such as Kung Fu Hustle.

The stunts and effects are mostly outstanding with a few cheesy moments but it adds to the charm.

Having watched this on PS3, I had to switch off upscaling, then further adjusted my TV aspect ratio to suit in order to get a larger, properly scaled image otherwise with scaling switched on the movie played in a small rectangle in the middle of the screen. This issue may be unique to my setup.

Description

A circus clown named Sunny (Aaron Kwok) goes on a hiking trip with a few colleagues to explore the mountains of Malaysia. While there they become exposed to a type of gas which turns out to be a biological weapon leftover by the Japanese from World War II.

After the group returns to Hong Kong they begin to show signs of mutation. Four of them, led by Dachu (Collin Chou), use their newly gained superpowers to commit a series of crimes. Experts are called in to assist the police in capturing the criminals, and they eventually discover that Sunny, with superpowers of his own, can help them break the case. At the same time, a virus begins to spread throughout the city... the clock is ticking for Sunny the superhero!
