Description

Tim Gosling has an international reputation for designing exquisite interiors and beautifully crafted furniture for a range of public and private clients. Whether it is a Georgian town house or a Victorian mansion, a Venetian penthouse or a Florida residence, Gosling's response to the architecture as well as to the needs of those who commission him results in a look that is both classic and contemporary. Every element is produced using the finest materials and to the most exacting standards by highly skilled British craftsmen. In Classic Contemporary, Gosling discusses his historical sources, from the 18th century to the 20th, as well as the work of his contemporaries that have influenced him and his work. By analysing in DNA-type depth what made historic styles so successful, so long lasting and often so beautiful, he is able to show how they can be adapted for contemporary tastes. Through these pages, Regency, Victorian, Art Deco or Modernism can be viewed in a new light, resulting in a book that provides a unique insight into the work of one of today's most popular and respected designers.
