Description

Packed with resources to help parents make sense of the college application process, conduct a college search, and help guide their child's completion of their college application. The author has included a variety of tools to compare one school to another, keep track of important application deadlines, and track possible scholarship aid. Readers from around the world have praised its value to parents who want to make sense of the college gauntlet without hovering and taking control away from their children. One reviewer has written: Stuart White's new book takes a unique focus on the role of the parent of one of the hundreds of thousands of overachieving high schoolers. Whereas most books are written for parents that micromanage and compel their children into the high achiever stereotype, Prof. White's book centers on a rather beautiful love story between him and his daughter as she went through the college admission process. Another reader has written: Thank you for sharing your helpful guide to the college application process. I have read many articles and listened to many podcasts regarding the process, yet still learned more from your book. The author's side by side journey with his daughter ended with her admission to Yale University.

Author Biography:

In 1980, the Graduate Theological Union (GTU) in Berkeley awarded Dr. White a PhD. Before completing his doctorate, he received a Masters of Divinity from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, an Episcopal Seminary in Berkeley, California. While he was a student at the GTU, Dr. White served on the admissions committee reviewing graduate school applications for his field. After graduation, Dr. White returned to his home state of Michigan and began work in the field of aging for twenty-five years. He has authored several notable reports on the state of human services in Michigan. For six years, Dr. White taught information technology to Masters of Social Work students at Michigan State University. Dr. White has three children. His first foray into helping his children get into college ended with his eldest daughter's enrollment in Yale University.
