Description

In this book, we discuss about several stories of Iranian literature and western literature. Similarities and differences of these stories will be reviewed and then, we compare the narrative structure of the stories. To analyze the narrative structure of the stories, we use the narrative theory of Greimas and Todorov. The study is composed in four main sections. In the first part, Ferdowsi's story of Rostam and Sohrab has been analyzed with Arnold's Rustam and Sohrab. In the second part, labors of Rostam and labors of Hercules were compared and analyzed. In the third section, the story of Sudabeh and Siyavash has been proposed and has been compared with the story of Hippolyte and Phedre. In the fourth part, the story of Layla and Majnun has been compared with the story of Romeo and Juliet. All stories have been studied in terms of narratology and were analyzed in accordance with the views of Greimas and Todorov.
