Description

Islam has never been in the world's news as much as it is now, at the beginning of the twenty-first century. Yet it remains the most misunderstood of religions, seen particularly in the West as a fanatical faith of jihad and fatwa. Khalid Perwez takes us back to the words of the Quran itself to correct our mistaken views, revealing Islam in its original purity and simplicity. This is also a user's manual for those already in Islam, revealing the history of the faith's doctrines and the correct way to observe them, in particular the Five Pillars that are Islam's most essential foundation. Khalid Perwez was born in the famous city of Lahore in Pakistan, well-known for Mogul history, writers, artists and political personalities. During college he wrote for the college magazine and also reported for THE SUNDAY POST, a weekly newspaper in Karachi, Pakistan. After completing his studies, he came to The United Arab Emirates, called the Trucial States in the sixties. From the U.A.E. he travelled to the state of Bahrain, an island near Saudi Arabia, and represented THE TRADE CHANNEL, a world famous business magazine of the Netherlands covering Bahrain, Qatar and The United Arab Emirates. After five years he returned to The U.A.E. and reported for SANA DIGEST, an Islamic magazine of Karachi, Pakistan, and began writing for Urdu newspapers of Pakistan. During almost thirty-five years in the U.A.E., Perwez thoroughly studied the developments and problems Muslims face in the Middle East and other countries, and always felt an urge to compile a book from which Muslims, as well as new converts to Islam, may seek assistance to solve various problems and gain necessary information
