The surface is nice and smooth. Works well with my Logitech G900. My biggest complaint is how sharp the edges are. If I'm using it normally, it leaves uncomfortable creases against my wrist within 30 minutes of using it. It would probably work better with a wrist pad, though wrist pad doesn't suit my personal preference. For $50, I'd say look elsewhere.
