Author Biography

Brian Williams is a lecturer in the Department of Applied Social Studies at the University of Keele. His previous research and publications have concerned probation work, prisons and the victims of crime. He worked as a probation officer and as a community worker after training in social work. He has been involved in professional education since 1986, but has returned to probation practice twice during that time.
